Do you have the end of summer blues? There is a remedy for that! You don’t need a script from the doctor, you don’t need to undergo tests, all you need to do is show up! Studies have shown that volunteering can play a role in increasing your overall sense of well-being, alleviating chronic pain, and even reducing depression. It may not exactly be a magic pill, but it certainly keeps you engaged in the community and allows you to invest a piece of yourself in our future.
Consider volunteering for the ENERGY Program! We have 25 amazing kids from Asian and African countries who need your help learning to read and write. Take a look at these beautiful faces-they’ll put a smile on yours!
Although the children aren’t coming to the church building each week for ENERGY, the work of ENERGY continuesSummer activities include a trip to the zoo, a visit to the West Side Bazaar, and a picnic. Home visits occur during July and August when we hope to meet with current and prospective students. Plans and preparations for the upcoming school year are already underway. As we look to the fall, you can play a part in this vital outreach to the children of our community.
