Volunteering at ENERGY is a unique and rewarding opportunity. Bill Currie recently shared his thoughts about being an ENERGY Volunteer.
The event began with people trickling in, starting at 6:15pm. By 7:00pm, the room was lively. Attendees enjoyed drinks at the bar, where the lucky ones received lighted ice cubes in Winterfest's colors, blue and white. Attendees began to battle for the winning spot in the silent auction, while conversations brought everyone together in a common vision for the success of Buffalo's economy and educational system. The Les Davis Quartette, who filled the room with smooth jazz, and the Greenhouse Room at the Hotel at the Lafayette blended together to provide a warm, homey environment.
Midway through, I delivered a brief speech about our five programs and their impact on the community. We then showed a video that provides an excellent overview of the West Side Bazaar, an exciting project and shopping experience. Immediately after, Gysma Keuny, owner of Gysma's African Style, spoke about her experience as a South Sudanese refugee starting her new life in Buffalo and eventually starting a business at the West Side Bazaar.Read more
