WEDI’s Economic Development consists of Business Training, Technical Assistance, and Microloan programs, actively supporting prospective and established business owners throughout Buffalo. It is through more than 180 business microloans that WEDI has supported the startup and/or the expansion of more than 100 small businesses over the past seven years of lending.
Over 60% of these businesses were startups at the time of WEDI's investment
50% are women-owned business enterprises (WBEs)
80% are minority-owned business enterprises (MBEs)
Since 2016, these small businesses have created or retained over 155 jobs.
